What is pelvic therapy?

Your pelvic floor and core muscles act as the foundation for the rest of the body. If these parts are not functioning at an optimum level, the rest of the body suffers.  Pelvic therapy is a specialized area of rehabilitation services that provides evaluation and treatment of the muscles, ligaments and fascia of the pelvic floor. In order to evaluate the pelvic floor, your therapist may recommend transvaginal and/or transrectal assessment. Your therapist will perform a thorough physical assessment and explain the benefits of this type of exam during your evaluation.

Do you only work with patients who have pelvic floor dysfunction?

At Foundation Pelvic Therapy we also support patients who have been struggling with other orthopedic issues, like low back pain, sacroiliac pain and hip pain.

We also offer wellness services for people looking to progress or maintain their level of function. For additional information, please contact info@foundationpelvictherapy.com.

What should I wear for my first appointment?

For your first appointment at Foundation Pelvic Therapy, it's helpful to wear clothing that allows you to move comfortably and enables the therapist to observe your movements. Choose athletic wear or loose-fitting clothes that you can easily move around in. This will help you feel at ease during the physical examination and any exercises you may be asked to perform. The therapist needs to see how you move, so avoid overly baggy clothes that might obscure your posture and movements. Form-fitting athletic wear can be a good option.
